It was only 3 years ago when AT&T stormed into the media business with an $85 billion purchase of Time Warner. AT&T had visions of taking over the streaming world. Industry experts were not fond of the move and in a relatively short period of time, AT&T proved them right. The spinoff likely indicates a failed acquisition strategy by AT&T. AT&T loss is likely a CTV | Streaming gain.
The merger will create a company larger than Netflix or Disney+. It will combine assets from CNN, TBS, TNT, HGTV, Food Network, Discovery Channel, Warner Bros. film studio, HBO Max, and Discovery+.
